Another good tip from Andy Wibbels. The most common mistake made by bloggers is that bloggers tend to put in a lot of unnecessary stuff at the right and left sidebars e.g., twitter, delicious, flickr photo, mybloglog, jaiku, meebo, etc. All these are really slowing down your blog’s loading time, and that is bad.
So now it is time to take a loofah of your blog sidebars. Start scrubbing.

yes i agree, less loading time is essential
get a good server (which might cost you) or ‘clean’ up the sidebar as you mentioned
too much clutter can ‘overpower’ the content
Loading time is important to leave a good impression on your readers
