Microsoft reveals the “Coffee table Computer”

Microsoft Surface Computer

The latest gadget from Microsoft is the new multi touch Surface Computer. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer unveils Microsoft Surface Computer the D5 conference that it’s built a new touchscreen computer which is more like a coffee table computer. It is expected that Surface computer that will change the world break down traditional barriers between people and technology.

The unique feature of a Surface computer is that it is able to recognize physical objects from a paintbrush to a cell phone and allows hands-on, direct control of content such as photos, music and maps. Surface turns an ordinary tabletop into a dynamic surface that provides interaction with all forms of digital content through natural gestures, touch and physical objects.

Surface computer can be used for all sort of commercial establishments e.g., at hotels, retail establishments, restaurants and public entertainment venues where beverages can be ordered at at the touch of a fingertip. It can be also be used for product marketing purposes. Imagine this, you walk into a camera store, pick up a camera you’re considering buying and place it on the Surface computer. Instantly, the table could pick up and identify the camera via Bluetooth or scan a code imprinted on the packaging and display graphical information e.g., price, specifications, etc. of that camera.

The price for Surface computer is not cheap. Surface machines will cost $5000 to $10,000 at launch. However, it is expected to be cheaper as more similar devices are developed in the future.

bad machine I think. Beside expensive, the surface will easy get stained by coffee or any beverage. Need extra protector to its display surface and that’s mean for extra money to pay. :-(

It is a one set machine. You don’t buy the projector separately.
