Google Gear

Google is moving towards offline applications. Now with Google Gear, it is possible to catch-up with all your RSS feeds offline by using Google Reader. Google Gears (BETA) is an open source browser extension that enables web applications to provide offline functionality using following JavaScript APIs : Store and serve application resources locally, store data locally in a fully-searchable relational database and run asynchronous Javascript to improve application responsiveness

With Google Gear (BETA), it is possible to read your 2000 most recent items even when your computer is not connected to the internet. To use the offline features of Google Reader, you will first need to install the Google Gears plug-in for your browser.

To know more about Google Gear, check out the tutorial on how to enable static files to work offline using Google Gears.

So what’s next from Google? Offline Gmail? That would be NICE!.
