For my first series of Make Money Online postings, I shall start with AuctionAds. Basically, AuctionAds is a non-contextually based ad product and it is compatible with all other ad systems i.e., AdSense, AdBrite etc. It is an easy to setup ads that you can embed onto your website or blog. AuctionAds is the brainchild of ShoeMoney and MediaWhiz (the owners of Text Link Ads and ReviewMe).

What is AuctionAds ?
AuctionAds is a new eBay Affiliate revenue sharing system that allows you to easily earn money on your website by showing image-ads for eBay auctions. Each time someone clicks on one of the ads displayed on your site and then buys an item on eBay, you make money. Because AuctionAds has great-looking images of the products, Click-Through Rate (CTR) is very high. Moreover, AuctionAds has a 30-day cookie, so each time someone clicks on of your AuctionAds ads, you will make money if that person buys anything on eBay for that month!. Sounds great isn’t it. Another great feature of AuctionAds is targeted keyword. You can set related keywords to AuctionAds ads, so that only items that interest your website visitors will be displayed - resulting in higher CTR.

As compared to other eBay affiliate programs out there,  AuctionAds is by far the easiest to use. AuctionAds ads can be up and running less than 10 minutes. What make AuctionAds different from the rest of eBay affiliates is the AuctionAds back-end features. It is an intuitive, easy to use system for showing targeted eBay auction listings on a publisher?s websites. AuctionAds’s system features 11 different size banners with adjustable background, border, heading, description and link colors. You can also add custom campaign to track different parts of your site. To create a banner, just enter some keywords that best match the target of your readership, adjust the colors according to your site and hit the Create button.

In order to select targeted keywords for your site or blog, here are some of the basic steps that you can take:

  • For starter, choose keywords for items that your visitors will be interested in and related to contents of your site. For example, for kuanhoong dot com, my keywords are ”computer”, “laptop”, or “technology”. In my opinion, it is not necessary to load your ads with specific keywords such as “DELL notebook”, “Apple iPhone” or “Nokia N75″, unless those are what your website visitors will be really interested in. The rule of thumb is “If you know what your visitors really want - give it to them!”.
  • In addition to that, another great feature of AuctionAds is the use of rotating ads. Generally, AuctionAds will automatically rotate ads for multiple keywords by separating your keywords with a semi-colon “;”. For example:

auctionads_ad_kw = “notebook; iPhone; MP3 player; PlayStation PS3″;

  • If you are a WordPress user, there is also a WordPress widget for AuctionAds. It is a simple widget where you can customize your keywords with ease. Click to download AuctionAds WordPress widget.

What are the benefits of using AuctionAds?

Due to the pictures in ads and unique nature of AuctionAds, you can feel free to run it in conjunction with other popular contextual ads programs like Google AdSense and Yahoo Publisher Network. If one of these other programs are already working for you, AuctionAds can be a nice additional income stream for you. Basically, publishers utilizing AuctionAds on their site will receive 100% of the commission revenue earned from eBay. The commission is paid on a scale (refer to the latest chart below as at June 1, 2007). The payment structure of AuctionAds is a tiered payment structure. In order to earn more income from AuctionAds, the more traffic you drive, the more you’ll earn for each transaction or new registered active user.

How do I track my earnings?

auctionads-reportTracking earnings is done easily through AuctionAds’s reporting interface. After logging into their website, simply click on the “Report” link. You can specify a specific date or date range as well as which campaigns to filter, click “Show Stats”. In addition to displaying a table of your impressions, clicks, CTR, and revenue. AuctionAds also provides a graph of your impressions and revenue over time.

As for payment, AuctionAds pays its members monthly at the beginning of the month via PayPal. In comparison to AdSense where publishers are required to accumulate a minimum income of $100, AuctionAds’s member is only required to have a minimum AuctionAds balance of $10 in order to receive payment. Nice! :-)

The KEY to making money with AuctionAds:
The key to making money with AuctionAds is by building good content and patience. Good content will drive more traffics to your site. With the 30-day AuctionAds cookie, it is possible to generate incomes for longer period of time. Even though, you might not able to see your revenue for the first one or two weeks, but after a long period, you should be able to see effect. Earnings might varies depending on the niche of your website and the demographics of your visitors. From my experience with kuanhoong dot com, I started with AuctionAds on May 17th 2007. By the end of May 2007, I received my first payment of $17.50. Not bad right?.

To learn more about AuctionAds or to sign up and try it, go to www.auctionads.com. As promoted by AuctionAds, “As soon as you receive your first payment from Auction Ads, you’ll understand the difference!

Actually the real reason i took down the ads is they were so slow to load. i hate seeing things loading so slowly in my blog. let me give them another chance.

It is not that slow as compared to nuffnang. I dislike blogs embedded with nuffnang ads! Haha.

A guru, I put the add on about 1 month ago. How come no $ coming through, aiya. I really think I better stick with my gold/silver investment than making $ in the internet :):).

1 tech question here. I put the adv on one of my site. I cannot see the adv. at my home computer but I can see it at my school computer. My husband suspect our filter is high at home. Is that right ?

Jamy, Haha you can’t expect to make money by merely putting up ads. How many visitors do you have daily? As for the ads filtering, you installed any ads blocker or ads filter, if not then you should be able to see your ads, unless your computer is broken :P

sometimes the ads timeout

also the sales on my pages are not good

should be tried on product blogs

Sha, Maybe the ads timeout was due to the usage of your keywords. Try use a broader range of keywords. I checked with AuctionAds blog, they had some problems during the initial stage, but everything seems ok now. So far, I haven’t experienced any time out on my blog.

I think Auction Ads is a bit hard to make money with, unless if you place it in a website where you sell stuffs. I am still trying to find out better way to make more money with Auction Ads ;)

I shall report my experiment with AuctionAds again.

Yeah, I signed up with them a few days ago, but to be honest, I think I will only run them on my gadgets blog - I don’t think they are targetted enough to make much on general themed blogs.

I think so. But too bad I don’t have a gadget blog

Auction ads will be successful only for sites which are focusing on gadgets. further they pay only for purchases.

Yeah, I will try out AuctionAds for a month on this blog, and will write a comprehensive report about it.
