Japanese and robot is like Men and Women, they are inseparable. (OK, maybe I am using the wrong analogy here, but you get my point, right?
). Everywhere in Japan, you will sure able to spot a machine or robot performing simple daily chores for Japanese. Sometimes it is hard to imagine what’s life in Japan without any machinery or robot. For starter, I guess most of the Japanese will starve to death. That is how important robots and machineries to the Japanese. For that, it is impossible that there is no robot museum in Japan. To show their appreciations to their robots, Japan opened its first robot museum in Nagoya.
Nagoya Robot Museum was unveiled to the public at October 2006. The new two-floor Robot Museum is the latest edition to Nagoya’s post-World Expo collection. The museum showcases the origin, history, development, and latest technology of the robot. At the museum, you are able to see robots from different periods of time. For example, there are robots from Electro, the star robot of the 1939 New York World Fair to current robot like Asimo, Honda?s space suited humanoid the museum. Robots here are suitable for all age range visitors and especially robot fanatic, I mean sci-fi buffs. At the museum, visitors are given an i-pod head set and can listen to exhibit explanations by entering the track number displayed next to the exhibit ? allowing visitors to explore at their own pace. Unfortunately, all the explanations are in Japanese language.
The museum is open daily 11:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 20:00 on weekends & holidays; closed on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
General Admission is 1300 Yen (USD10) for adults, 1000 Yen (USD8) for 13 to 18 year olds and over 65s, and 700 Yen (USD6) for 6 to 12 year olds.

My first segway ride
By the way, the segway ride was fun. Love it!. However, it would be great if the ride was abit longer.
So how about you?. Tried the segway before?. How about robot?. What is your favorite robot?. If you are in Nagoya, I would be glad to show you this “Robot Museum”.

Japan has been the best place where robots have been developed. Will visit this place when in Japan

You could have put the rates in USD also.
Oh, I will try to put the rate in USD.
very nice robots. how do the japanese uses them? as a maid like what we have - indon maid here?
is the segway used outside on the road as well? It kinda reminds me of a similar transport we used to see here a while ago. forgot what’s the name
Yeah, Japanese loves to use robot as maids. For example that Ifbot, it is designed to chat with old people.
The segway can be used outside on the road as well. In fact, I heard they are using it in Singapore Airport by the security forces.
Segway in Malaysia?. I thought it is called “beca”
KH, Japan is a very unique country in itself.
It has one of the unique culture of its own.
I took Japan and Chinese history, culture, civilization a couple yr back. It is interesting that Japanese a very rigid hierarchy kind of society, gentle , docile people , follow order, peaceful nation but they have the most violence media. Look at their cartoon, their movies, they have the most violence media and yet you don’t see any such violence in the society. It probably has to trace back with their warrior samurai structure.
I love history ! and I love robot too :).
We have lot of robot vacuum cleaners here :)-. In fact, US also used a lot of robotic automated system, especially in medical field.
Japanese are very creative in producing products that can be used in space challenge situation.
Yes, I do agree that most of the cartoon, movies, animes from Japan are violence in nature. Actually in recent years, there are many reports on murder and killings in Japanese society. Most of these crimes are committed by minor. So don’t be surprise, Japan is going to be ranked the most violence society in the near future.
KH, typo error,
I meant to write I took a class on Japan….
Wow .. the segway looks fun, I would give it a try when I get a chance
Hi Bee Lee,
Yup, that segway ride was fun

Very unique and worth to try! Have you try it?
Yup, I tried riding segway
