There are several ways where you can organize your emails e.g., folders like those used by Microsoft Outlook & Yahoo! Mail and labels like GMail. Now there is whole new way to organize or visualize your emails. With Anymails, you can have a refreshing way to visualize of my received emails. Each received email is represented by one animal. Sounds interesting right?.
Developed by Carolin Horn and Florian Jenet, as part of their project for MFA thesis. The concept for Anymails is simple. One animal is equivalent to one email and one email category is equivalent to one species. The emails are categorized in six person groups: family and friends, school, job, e-commerce, unclassified, and spam. For example, all emails you received from your school advisors and fellow students are in the category school. These categories are represented by six species, which are different in color and form.
All animals emails swim around the screen interacting with your other messages. Only animals (emails) of a certain time period are visible at once, such as received emails from today. You can modify this period in the time line in the menu Time. You also can decide if you want to see emails from today, from the last week or month. You can see how many emails he has received from which category by the different colored and formed animals. If you would like check previous emails, you can do time travel where you can go back in time to see emails received over the last months or years by scrolling through the time line to previous inbox conditions.
The prototype for Anymails was used by users to read local Apple Mail database. The prototype was built with Flash and Processing. The Anymails source code (OS-X 10.4.9 ppc) is available for download (2.5mb).
Cool right?. So are you ready to have your emails swim around the screen for you?.
P/S : You can watch a small movie preview for Anymails (8MB)
