10 Reasons Why Blogging is like Sex

Blogging is like sex. There you are, I said it. Sweet and simple statement. It can’t be more simpler than that. Why such a bold statement you may ask?. Well, I will tell you why. Because it is the fact. It is the undeniable fact. To back my statement, I will list down 10 reasons on why blogging is like sex. (Warning : this post is categorized as 18-SX : blog post for persons above 18 with non-excessive sex references :D ).

1. It makes you feel good

The fact is sex makes you feel good. You can feel good through blogging too. Through blogging, you can share your views, opinions, attitudes, perspectives, and life experiences. The longer that you blog, the more friends that you will be able to make through blogging and the longer it feels good, the more inclined you are to continue.

2. It is addictive

Sex is addictive so is blogging. Everyday, there are tons of things that you might want to do with your blog. For example, you might want to get home as soon as possible after work to edit your blog or to add another post. During you free time, you think of what you might want to write about in your next post. You also might want to look at friends’ blogs for inspiration or find out what plugins or widgets that you can add onto your blog. (Find out How Addicted to Blogging Are You?)

3. The need for other to acknowledge how good you are

The most common question one would ask his/her partner is “How good are you in bed?”. Almost everyone would like to think that they are the best in bed. However, the best acknowledgment is from your partner. For a blogger, the best acknowledgment on how good are you is through comments from your readers and subscribers.

4. It requires skills and practices

To be able to impress your partner, there are several skills that you need to acquire for sex. No doubt, if you are good in bed, you can have a long lasting relationship. Blogging requires good writing skills too to transform good ideas into great ideas. While some people are born with a gift for writing but for most of us, improving writing skills is a tedious but rewarding process of continuous learning and rewriting.

5. It can be transmitted virally

A blog with good content can easily be transmitted virally through social networking sites like Digg, Reddit, Netscape and many more. This is the virtual equivalent of a sexually transmitted disease.

6. The need for good prevention measures

Safe sex is a set of practices that are designed to reduce the risk of infection during sexual intercourse to avoid developing sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). While for safe blogging, blogger should implement prevention measures against malwares, viruses and hackers. Bloggers should refrain themselves from practicing black hat search engine optimization (SEO) techniques.

7. You are required to maintain a successful relationship

The success of a relationship/sex is a function of the extent to which it meets the needs of two people. For a successful blogger, you are required to maintain a successful relation with your readers. A blog is two ways communication that involved the reader and the writer. A successful blog is a blog that manages to engage the readers in every blog post and where readers can leave comments to express feelings. Therefore, you are advised to reply and answer all the comments for your blog posts. Its enough to say ?thanks you?.

8. There alot of so called professionals out there

If you have problem with your relationship/sex, you may get advice from Dr. Phil. While for blogging, you may get advice from probloggers like Darren Rowse, John Chow, and many more.

9. You aren?t likely to cash in on your network right away

Even though you are good in bed that doesn’t mean you are going to have a good relationship right away. In order for a blogger to build relationship and connect with fellow bloggers and readers, it takes time and energy. Every post that you make, every comment you leave or answer and every email that you send requires time.

10. There are tons of reasons to have it

There are tons of reasons to have sex. Physically, psychologically even scientifically. Recent studies have established a link between regular sexual activity and longevity, confirming what we already suspected: Sex is good for the heart. While you may also find tons of reasons out there on why you should have a blog. Check out Lorelle’s post – Why Blog?.

So how about you?. Do you think blogging is like sex?. Yes/No?. Please share your thoughts with me.
