In Japan, you can practically buy anything anything from a vending machine. You can buy soft drinks, Japanese tea, cigarettes, foods, and the latest hit product across Japan – Canned Ramen (Noodles). According to the latest news, Kyoto-based vending machine manufacturer Fujitaka was the first company to come out with canned ramen. In May this year it began selling Sapporo-style noodles, which gained huge popularity, mainly in the Akihabara district. In June, the company added hiyashi-men (chilled noodles) to its lineup of canned products.
The selling price of one canned ramen is about 300 yen (USD 3). Now these canned ramens are available in Nagoya, Japan. In order to make sure that ramens won’t go soggy and can be stored for up to three years at room temp, the ramens are made from konnyaku, a type of yam that is available widely in Japan.
“How about the taste you ask?”. Well, like the saying goes, “You get what you pay for”. The taste was horrible. Nothing beats a real ramen prepared by a real cook in real time.
Unless you are really hungry and there is really nothing else to eat, maybe you can consider this canned ramen. If not, I would rather drink plain water. Enough said!.

since living in Japan for almost a year, all I can say is you just won’t get too surprise with all the strange and weird things happen here “Japan” coz Japanese are “crazy”…….:D hehehe
Hi Yplow98.
It is true that the Japanese are crazy!
Cool.
:).
We have lots of canned noddle here but not in vending machine
Campbell soup has lots of noddles .
Hi Jamy,
Campbell soup with noodles?
Can Noodle is really amazing.
Japanese are so creative. Even a Noodle can be canned!
But I think this type of noodle is not good for health…
Hi Ken,
Yeah, I don’t think it is healthy too.
it does not look delicious to me. I am not a fan of instant noodles, they give me stomach ache every time.
Canned noodles is a bad idea for commercial. It is actually meant for food during earthquakes, etc.
Why do we have to waste aluminium / steel , dont u think there is too much waste of paper, plastic and aluminium in Japan ?
Recycle? Yes, it is good, but we still need alot of energy to melt and recycle them right.
Totally bullshit.
Hi Eddie,
Well these canned foods will be handy when there is an earthquake
huh, canned RAMEN?? @___o of all the things that they can put into a can… = =” then the ramen ma become cold lo? and i don’t like the color of that neither lol…
but yeah, still agree that japanese can come up with the most interesting things
Hi Conan,
You can have two types of ramen : cold or hot
I love ramen. I used to know a great place in Bangkok. Not found anything worthwhile in Phuket though.
Hi Angel,
I am surprise that there are no ramen at Phuket as it is a famous tourism spot for Japanese.
Well, Canned noodles…what can I say. It seems that manufacturer’s will put each and everything in can. Do you remember any food..which is not coming in cans these days???
I think food is best when its fresh and served hot…what say ?
Hi ReviewSaurus,
The noodle is hot. Just that is not served fresh
Everything from vending machine? Oh!
and also Everything is costly.
Hi Nirmal,
It is true that you can buy almost everything through vending machine in Japan. Everything is expensive too.
One great thing about vending machines is that there’s no need to line up to make payment, but after looking at your picture, I don’t think I would go for this canned ramen unless I have no choice.
Hi Bee Lee,
Haha, It is true that the taste is really horrible.
Poor thing you! I think better not eat too much processed food! Come back for the wantan mee instant cooking!
Haha, I will surely look for you for wantan mee when I am back to Malaysia
Er..it looks pretty unappetising at all.
*screws up nose*
Anyways, I’ve yet to try cold ramen whenever I go for Jap food. Or is it cold soba?
Vote, Vote, Vote !
that is creative !!
