Nagoya, with its 2 million strong population holds the Nagoya Matsuri (名古屋祭り) or Festival for every autumn. This year, Nagoya Matsuri was held from Saturday 13th-14th October 2007. Known as the biggest festival held in Nagoya, the main attraction of Nagoya Matsuri is the parade. Three proud shoguns or heroes of Nagoya, namely Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu march from Nagoya Station to the busy shopping district of Sakae. With the help of 700 retainers, Oda Nobunaga heads the parade and is celebrated as both as a warlord from the Owari area and also as the man who laid the foundations necessary to unify the nation.
