How to report duplicate content to Google

I know it is a pain in the butt if someone simply copy all your postings and paste them onto their own sites without giving you any credit and earn money online from Google AdSense ads. To make the matter worst, the almighty Google might penalize you for having duplicate contents on your own site. So as a legitimate blog owner, what are the best course of actions that you can take?. Well, for starter, you can try to deal with those bloggers *cough thieves diplomatically by sending them a nice email asking them to remove all your contents. Unfortunately, most of the time this doesn’t work. Your next step is to report such sites to Google.

To report a copy-cat site to Google is quite simple. If you noticed a site that contains your duplicate content, you can report to Google by clicking on the Ads by Google link that can be found around the AdSense ads. (as shown below)

Then at the bottom of the page, you can see this link “Send Google your thoughts on the site or the ads you just saw” where you can tell Google what do you think of the ads and the site. You can file a report to Google by clicking on the “Also Report a Violation” link. By clicking on the checkbox for website, you will be given several violations that you can report to Google. (refer to the figure shown below)

You can select all the related violations that you wish to report and click the submit feedback button.

I guess Google will only take action on the site after several violation reports received. Well, at least that is better than nothing. :-)

Cool tips buddy! This prevent copy-cat from stealing our works. If they left a link back to our post is ok, if not i think we should report them.

Thanks for the tips! How efficient is this technique? I”m going to use it now.

Having said that, if a site duplicates your whole content but acknowledge you at the end (which normally won’t be noticed), can we still file the report? The site add my content without notify me at all.

Thanks to your tips. I had send the violation mail to google about the site, which had totally copy cat our site with only logo changed to their site. It is very annoying. but hope. Thanks again.

Interesting post out here. I see a lot of duplicated blogs out there and others call it Autoblogs – which scrapes content from others. Thanks for the tip.

What if the duplicator doesnt dispay google adsense? Is there any other way to directly report the issue?

I did 2 reports in 2009 and 2010 about copyright violation when I found out some blogs copied my content. About 2 weeks after the reports the copied contents were removed. For frequent violation the blog will also be deleted. After this I’m going to make another report.
