If you are big supporter of OpenSource, then Moon Secure is the right software for you. Moon Secure AV is an opensource antivirus currently using the clamav engine due to fast response time and huge AV database. As part of the software improvement, currently they are implementing another engine that is heuristic and will allow users to customize the engine on the fly. True to the spirit of OpenSource, Moon Secure believe all computer users should be able to use any software to do any tasks and not pay unbelievable prices for it.

Moon secure AV is coded in Delphi and only runs on windows that supports windows NT services, there is third part software that is out there that supports windows NT services on 98 but this is not supported. The latest version of Moon Secure, the version 2, has an advanced GUI and allows the user to have a lot more control over what the antivirus does. There are also added features e.g. heuristic scanning and different levels of custom scans.

* Download Moon Secure AV version 1.0.0.132 (Stable) from sourceforge

Doesn’t look that great, but I guess if it does the job it doesn’t matter!

Does this AV do the job better than other free versions?
