Microsoft is currently testing a new files sychronization service. Something similar to Windows Live Skydrive, Windows Live FolderShare beta is a free service that you can use to keep your files synchronized. This is done by the process of uploading and downloading information between two or more computers so that the information on each computer is identical between your computers. With Windows Live Foldershare, you are able to share files with friends or colleagues, (duh!) and download your files from any computer that’s connected to the Internet.

You must install FolderShare beta on each computer you want to sync with a library. Luckily, there are two versions of FolderShare - Windows and MAC. You must sign in with your email and password on each computer before using the same FolderShare beta credentials. After you install FolderShare beta on your computer and connect the computer to a library, FolderShare beta works in the background and recognizes when files are changed, added to, or deleted from a library. FolderShare beta automatically syncs the changes to all online.

If you have more than one computer, you can create a personal library to sync files between your computers. When you make changes to files that are included in a personal library, the changes are automatically updated on each computer that is included in the library. If you add a subfolder or change the name of a subfolder that is part of your library, the change is updated on each computer in the library. Only you can access your personal library.

With Windows Live FolderShare beta installed on your computer, you can remotely access any files on the computer from any computer that’s connected to the Internet. You can access all of the files on the computer, not just the files in a library. You can also turn off remote access so that files on your computer can’t be accessed remotely with FolderShare beta.

As part of the security and privacy for FolderShare beta, all your files are encrypted and exchanged over the network using AES (Advanced encryption standard)and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and authenticates files using RSA.
