Skype is the the most popular P2P IP telephony client that allows users to make calls over the Internet. Starting from Skype ver. 1.4, it is now possible to run Skype from your portable USB drive and without any installation.
Steps to run Skype program from your USB drive :
- Install Skype on your PC and then find the installation folder. It’s probably something like “C:\Program Files\Skype.” Copy the Skype.exe file to a folder on your USB flash drive.
- In that same folder on your flash drive, create a subfolder called “data.”
- Create a new text file called “Skype.bat” or Skype Portable.bat” or whatever you like.
- Open your new file using Notepad or another text editor and write “skype.exe /datapath:”data” /removable” (without the quotes).
- Save and close your file
To launch Skype, just click the Skype.bat file. Skype should launch and all of your settings will be saved in the data folder. [via]
So just to be clear, if you have any device that can connect to the internet, then it would be possible to make those devices cellphone like? I’m thinking about an ipod touch being able to mimic an iphone… Am I thinking to much?
