Japan’s Sony Corp plans to sell a smaller and lighter PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld game machine later this year, according to video game websites which cite what they say is Sony’s own promotional video clip.

The new device which is called the PSP Go, is 43 percent lighter than the current model and comes with a 3.8-inch display, compared with a 4.3 inch screen now. Other specs include 16GB of flash memory, an additional memory card slot and Bluetooth. It’s not clear what the Bluetooth connection will be used for but looks like this could be used to further enhanced PS3 connectivity is on the cards. It is expected that PSP Go will be officially revealed in E3.

Well, it certainly looks cooler, but in my opinion it doesn’t seem worth it to fork up the pretty pennies that it will cost for just an upgrade, as they are still keeping the older psp in the market, good for them too

Yeah it looks pretty sweet. The old version was a little too bulky to carry it around. I don’t know if I’ll buy this version, but it’s a good sign of what’s to come. Maybe in a couple years I’ll pick up a psp2 instead.
