Apple launches Safari 4 beta web browser

The latest web browser for OS X, Windows Vista and XP is here. Apple has launched the public beta version of its famous web browser – Safari 4. The new Safari 4 browser is fast and very nice looking. In fact some users commented that it feels a lot like Google’s web browser – Chrome. This is because both web browsers are using the same Webkit rendering engine.

Other surprising are the number of innovative features it offers, including in-your-face browser interface advances, under-the-hood updates for notably speedy rendering performance, and open-standards compliance.

One of the most obvious new features which is similar to Opera and Chrome is a new “Top Sites” page, which is the default view for new windows and tabs. The Top Sites page offers a 3-D gallery view of what Safari thinks are your favorite Web sites.

Overall, Safari 4 is fun web browser to use. It has a collection of innovative additions, performance boosts and standards compliance.

Twinkle – the native iPhone Twitter client with Locate Me features that allow you to see who is tweeting near you – has come out of private beta and is available on Installer now. With Twinkle, you will get the combination of two great features – microblogging and geo-location. While currently there are not many Twinkle users, it will be a lot more fun when more people are on Twinkle.

The Locate Me feature can easily be toggled On and Off. If you choose to use it then you can use the ‘Near Me’ tab to see tweets from folks who are within X miles of your location. The default is a 50-mile distance, and you can choose to change this to 1, 2, 10, 25, 100, 1,000, or 252,000.

You’ll need to have the Polar Bear Farm source added in Installer in order to see Twinkle. That source is:

iTunes might be your default player on your Mac or Windows machine, though it can support most music formats, it still can’t support the OGG Vorbis format. That means you will not be able to play OGG files in iTunes.So if you’re an avid open source supporter, and download music files, podcasts, audio files primarily in the OGG format, and make them work on iTunes, you’ve to do the following, it’s pretty easy on Windows/Mac.

In order to make iTunes support OGG files, you’ll need to install a QuickTime component
The component needed for iTunes to play OGG can be downloaded from this official website (for Mac and also for Windows)
Install the QuickTime component that you downloaded
Fire up iTunes, add an OGG file to your library, play it and magic
iTunes will now be able to play your OGG audio collections as well
